Strategic Questions

>> Reviewer Comments:
I think the main question to be asked in 2013 in Lebanon and all over the world is about the internet is the Cloud issue. Cloud computing is growing too fast and it has lots of advantages but it has also lots of risk in terms of security issues since Hackers in 2013 are focusing on Cloud since they can get huge amount of info and data from the cloud.

i guess we should add more questions and seminars about cloud and IT & Internet Security.

>> ISOC LB Response:
Cloud is deffinitly an important subject. We added Cloud Computing under "Issues of Interest to ISOC LB". We will investigate the possibility of bringing training and awarness activities on the subject.

Issues of Interest to ISOC LB

>> Reviewer Comments:
1- Replace children and the internet by "Child Online Protection"

2- Add Cloud computing

3- Add E-Health and E-payment services

4- Add FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet)

5- Replace Access and Broadband with NGA and NGN

>> ISOC LB Response:
1- Children and the internet includes "Child Online Protection" + a wide spectrum of activities
2- Added Cloud computing

3- Added  E-services

4- Our interest is FTTH and not FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet)

5- We prefer to leave the terms as Access and Broadband as many will not undertand NGA and NGN

Mission

>> Reviewer Comments:
Interesting plan; however, being a member from academia I see minimal involvement/activities that are within our focus. The mission does include development...technologies and applications... If this is meant to be in the research and development context then that is not evident within the plan. There is mention of standardization as an interest but this is typically rooted in research and development. ISOC-LB might want to consider this aspect within its plan as Lebanon is positioned to contribute to technology (beyond just Arabic content).

>> ISOC LB Response:
You are right ISOC research arm is IETF and we did not feel that we we developed the needed capacity at this stage to contribute to IETF but we are definitly willing to revise the plan to support Internet related research activities. We would like to work with you on dentifying research and development activities/projects.
