On October 18, 2012, Minister Sehnaoui and around 100 ISOC members, Internet decision makers, stakeholders, activists and talents gather at L’Atelier (Berytech, Mathaf) for a better Internet in Lebanon and enjoyed a jovial atmosphere with pizza and beer.
Mr. Nabil Bukhalid, President ISOC Lebanon, initiated the discussions with an overview of the state of the Internet in Lebanon and introduced the audience to ISOC’s Lebanon programs plans and activities. Minster Sehnaoui shared with the audience the ministry plans, the status of the fiber network, the plan to increase the internet bandwidth, the internet penetration, and the ministry plans to improve the Internet quality of service in Lebanon.
Mr. Ali Zogheib launch ISOC Lebanon University Clubs program and invited members to volunteer for the IPv6, DNSSEC and Internet QOS work groups. Mrs. Salam Yamout, National ICT Strategy Coordinator, Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Mounir Nabti, AltCity briefed the audience on the IGF 2012 meeting in Baku and the Lebanese youth participation.
The discussion continued with a reflection on how and why the Internet is such a strategic resource for Lebanon and how to involve the next generation ISOC members in becoming actively involved.
