Beirut, September 12, 2023 - As part of its ongoing Net Nites, ISOC Lebanon Chapter has held its “Cyber Security and Risk Management over the Internet: A Talk by Olaf Kolkman” a principal at the Internet Society on the 12th of September 2023 at Beirut Digital District.
The talk covered various topics including the importance of an open, transparent, and trustworthy internet.
It also tackled the topic of Internet Exchange Point (IXP) within a country, local traffic, from one Internet Service Provider (ISP) to the other, and its impact on reducing the traffic traveling outside the country, which would result in remarkable tariffs reduction for the end user.
Additionally, Mr. Kolkman pointed out the potential use of private servers to host personal data, as a means to enjoy a safe experience over the internet.
Professionals from Lebanese corporations attended the event, including the educational sector, ISOC Lebanon Chapter board member, Mrs. Hana Sabbagh, Lebanon ISOC representative, and attendees from ISOC Oman Chapter.
